Was I Building the Wrong Startup?

I Killed My Own Startup Idea.

And I'm glad I did.

When I started HunarMilaap, the idea was simple.

Pakistan has talented people.

• Designers…

• Developers….

• Writers…..

• Marketers….

• Photographers….

• Teachers….

Most people don't need another expensive course. Sometimes they just need someone who already knows the skill.

So I built HunarMilaap around one idea.

Swap skills instead of paying for courses.

You teach me. I teach you.

Simple.

And honestly...

It made sense.

People joined.

They created profiles.

Added their skills.

Started connecting.

But after watching people use the platform, I realized something.

They weren't coming to swap skills.

They wanted to get noticed.

They wanted clients.

They wanted bookings.

They wanted people to discover their work.

Listing a skill wasn't enough.

A feed wasn't enough.

And skill swapping doesn't pay your bills.

That's when I realized...

I wasn't solving the biggest problem.

So I made a difficult decision.

I rebuilt HunarMilaap from scratch.

Not because the first idea failed.

Because people were asking for something different.

Today, HunarMilaap is built for people who want to earn from what they already know.

Now you can

• Sell digital products

• Host and join events

• Get discovered by clients

• And yes... still swap skills if that's what you want

Skill swapping is still there.

It's just no longer the center of the product.

The focus is much bigger now.

Connect. Get booked. Sell what you know.

That's the direction.

This wasn't a small update.

It changed how I think about the product.

Before, the question was:

"What do you want to learn?"

Now the question is:

"What can you offer?"

That one change affected everything.

I'm sharing this because I know many founders hold onto ideas for too long.

I almost did.

Sometimes your first idea isn't wrong.

It's just incomplete.

Listen to your users.

Watch what they actually do.

Not what you expect them to do.

That's exactly why HunarMilaap looks very different today.

And I believe it's finally solving the right problem.
