Productivity isn’t doing more.
It’s doing the right things with the right energy.
I use one mental model
The Productivity Quadrant.
It splits all tasks into four types.
1 - Necessary Work
Boring but essential.
Team meetings. Client calls. Follow-ups.
Doesn’t feel fun. But skipping breaks your flow.
Tip: Do these early when your energy is high.
2 - Unnecessary Work
Unproductive and pointless.
Busy work. Rearranging files. Over-organizing.
Feels good, no real impact.
Tip: Only 10–15 min at day’s end if priorities are done.
3 - Distractive Work
Time killers in disguise.
Social media. Endless videos. Constant news.
Steals focus. Drains energy.
Tip: Notifications off. Check only twice a day.
4 - Purposeful Work
Where the magic happens.
Tasks aligned with your goals.
For me: designing, writing, mentoring, learning.
Energy flows. Impact grows. Fulfillment happens.
Tip: Protect 2–3 hours daily. No interruptions.
In the end…
We all get 24 hours.
What matters is how you spend them.
Feeling unproductive?
Don’t hustle more.
Rearrange your quadrant.
Be intentional.
Productivity isn’t just checking boxes.
It’s designing a life that works for you.
